Hey or ‘hoi’ as the Dutch would say; not that I’m Dutch. I’m an Englishman by the name of Gary Patrick Brown, trying to encourage his 45 year old body that it isn’t tired and achey all the time, while living and working in the wonderful city of Amsterdam in Oranjeland (not an official name of the Netherlands I should probably add).
I live with two cats – Klaus and Beatrix, named after Dutch royalty, although I couldn’t use the Dutch spelling of Claus as every time I see it, I just think of Father Christmas. I guess that’s my British side coming to the fore – one dog, Max (named after Queen Maxima) and my partner, Ken.
Since 2018, we have owned and run a small doggy day care and pet sitting company in the heart of Amsterdam which although hard work, has been a source of immense joy.
In my spare time, I love to both watch and play sport, preferably while laying in a scalding hot bathtub, and I’m also a member of the Amsterdam Gay Men’s Chorus. My biggest passions, however, are travelling – especially hiking – and food, both of which form the staples of this website.
